Removal of Scandi Tute

It is with deep regret that I must remove the Scandi Mei Tai tutorial from my blog. Although the blog clearly states "Personal Use Only," it has come to my attention that the tutorial is being used by others for purposes of making and selling mei tais for profit. One particular mei tai vendor has even deleted her comments thanking me for tutorial because she doesn't want it revealed that she learned how to sew one from my instructions. This was not the intention of the tutorial, and goes against the spirit of good will that tutorials promote. Secondly, the tutorial is NOT a professional method for mei tai construction. It is very basic and will deliver a "safe" carrier, but there is so much more that needs to be addressed before starting a baby carrier business.

If you are an honest DIYer and truly want to make a carrier in which to use for your own purposes - to carry your own children or to promote babywearing with your friends and family, please send me an e-mail at oliviaboliviameitai@yahoo.com. I will be happy to send you a private link to the tutorial or answer any questions you may have.

I truly feel terrible doing this, but I have to protect my intellectual property and this is the only way I have to exercise that control.

How rude of people to exploit your hard work and generosity. Some people have no shame... :( I hope they get named and shamed!

That totally stinks that someone would steal your tutorial for profit. I am so sorry this happened to you.

Thats awful, I love your tute and am really looking forward to having a go with it! How dare people exploit your hard work and generosity for their own profit. So rude!

I echo the sentiments of the other comments. I found this tute through a link and only bookmarked it this week in order to make one for my daughter (and me of course!). I'm always awed when people are willing to post their creativity and share their methods online and it is disappointing to hear people exploit that.

I'm so sorry to hear about what happened. I bookmarked this page a while ago because my mom and i were going to attempt to make one to carry my baby boy in. I was devastated to see it wasn't here anymore. :( Is it possible for you to e-mail me the instructions???? It would mean a lot.My mom and i were really looking forward to this project. Please let me know either way. mrs.sasha.corbett@gmail.com

Sniff sniff --- I used yours and 2 other tutes ( a little bit of this a little bit of that) to customize a Mie tie/scandi for myself and I am sooooo bummed that someone did this to you!

Oh no! I was so looking forward to finishing baby's room to follow your tutorial and make my own mei tai :( I even bought the fabric! I saw a mother at Ikea with a mei tai that looked amazing and she gave me a link to your tutorial. I finally have time to work on a small project while I await baby's arrival (due in 8 days). If it's possible, please email me the tutorial. margaret@dargham.net
